The original piece, Preservation, was an appropriated-object sculpture, which I also completed in 2006 and then photographed, resulting in Preservation I, Preservation II, and Preservation III. The display of Preservation II in the New Directions exhibition allowed me to both express my unresolved feelings about photography and to circle back and punctuate my original conceptual intent.
