chinatown bag, 2007-2008
Stockton Street is the main artery in San Francisco's Chinatown where locals do their shopping. This street is lined with amazing amounts of fresh produce and markets stocked with live turtles, chickens, and a whole lot of hustle and bustle. The sidewalks are filled daily from morning until early evening with people toting their sustenance in bright pink plastic bags. These bags, each with a red flower and a thank you, are tough to miss. The bags are just about everywhere you look and they move up and down Stockton Street like a swarm of bees. Chinatown Bags, 2007-2008, an homage to the common pink plastic Chinatown grocery bag, is the result of a collaboration between Denise Parsons and her brother/artist, Alex Ozers.
